The main negative influences of traffic today (and most likely in the future) are traffic accidents and impact on the environment. A new training method advocating safe driving style and vehicle use – EcoDriving – has been developed and patented in Finland. Student activating learning methods and inclusion of previous experiences are used in the training. The goal of the training is to show how it is possible to achieve safe driving styles and decreased pollution through saving fuel and money. The main objective of the training is to change the thought patterns of people.
EcoDriving OY has signed a franchise agreement with six countries: Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Latvia and Poland. All 7 countries will hold presentations at the conference. The presentation of each country includes overviews on:
- How long has the training been taking place locally,
- The number of trainers,
- How many people have been trained,
- Where do the training sessions take place,
- How are the clients found,
- Who trains and how are trainers trained,
- Is there in-service training for trainers,
- What kind of problems have occurred,
- What kind of learning tools and materials are used,
- Has student satisfaction been studied,
- Has impact on future traffic behaviour been studied,
- What are the suggestions for change, research and cooperation between different countries?
Financing: Each participating country will cover the accommodation, food and travel costs of their representatives. Coffee breaks and lunch costs 20 EUR per person. Banquet costs 15 EUR per person.
